Elements of a Contract

Consideration

Consideration is what the offeror demands in order to make the offer legally enforceable.  Consideration must have legal value in the eyes of the law, such as money.  The law will also recognize skills such as plumbing and carpentry.  If a plumber and a contractor enter into a contract for the plumber to installing a bathroom in exchange for the carpenter building a deck, as long as all other elements are met, the court would consider this legal value because the skills are specialized.
